No Longer Strange
This month, we celebrate World Communion Sunday. It’s a day where people all around the world, from many different branches of Christianity, all take communion. There are so many differences in those people - in exactly what they believe about God, in how they live out that faith, in what they look like, in how they worship God. But “because of Jesus we are one,” to quote the song for this month. We have common ground, and that is the hope we have in Jesus Christ.

Do It
Invite a family from another culture to come for dinner. Ask them to prepare a dish that is traditional for them, and prepare your own dish that is traditional for your culture. As you eat together, learn about each other’s cultures. What are traditions of your culture? How do you celebrate? How do you worship God? Consider teaching each other a worship song from your culture.
Pray It
God, you created this whole world and everyone in it. You must be very creative, because we are all so different from each other. Thank you for all these different people we can learn from. And thank you for making all of us one through your son Jesus. Amen.
Sing It
This year’s faith practices go with songs from the CD “New World Coming,” by Bryan Moyer Suderman. They work well on their own, but if you want a bonus for your family’s experience, buy a CD to listen to for the year.
