Joining God in Creation

Picture
Read It
 9 You take care of the earth and water it,
    making it rich and fertile.
The river of God has plenty of water;
    it provides a bountiful harvest of grain,
    for you have ordered it so.
10 You drench the plowed ground with rain,
    melting the clods and leveling the ridges.
You soften the earth with showers
    and bless its abundant crops.
11 You crown the year with a bountiful harvest;
    even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.
12 The grasslands of the wilderness become a lush pasture,
    and the hillsides blossom with joy.
13 The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep,
    and the valleys are carpeted with grain.
    They all shout and sing for joy!
Psalm 65:1-13   New Living Translation (NLT)

Pray It
God, thank you for creating this world. Thank you for asking us to work with you to make things grow.  In Jesus’ name, Amen

Everyday prayer as you encounter nature: “Look at that  flower  (caterpillar, blue sky, rain storm, baby chick….) !  Thank you, God, for  flowers .
Do It
Get some seeds of a vegetable that grows well in our climate. With your child prepare the ground (could be soil in a planter or the ground), plant the seeds and water it. Pray: “Thank you, God, for these seeds, and for your sunshine and rain that will help them grow. Please help us take good care of these seeds so we can enjoy these vegetables when they grow.”  Continue to care for the seeds together, remembering each time to talk about God’s role in their growth. When they are ready to be eaten, share them!
